PHOTOGRAPHERS VISION - John O. Dixon

What Our Customers are saying!

Gary W. Sanderson
John O. Dixon, Photographer, and owner of "Life to Lens Photography", was the official photographer for the 50th Wheelmen Meet that was held in West Chester, PA. This is the second time that Mr. Dixon has been chosen to be the official photographer of one of our Annual Meets, and he was chosen because of the excellent job he does in covering our Meets. The 2017 Meet marked the 50th Anniversary of our organization and it also highlighted the Founder's Ride on which 8 person's riding on 1880s high wheel bikes decided the organizational details on which The Wheelmen was based: this ride took place in the area near West Chester The special challenge for Mr. Dixon on this occasion was to capture the essence of the Founder's Ride in the enthusiasm for old bicycles by today's Wheelmen who assembled for the 2017 Annual National Wheelmen Meet. Mr. Dixon demonstrated patience and creativity in getting our large crowd arranged for a memorable group photo, and for many pictures of the activities that took place at this meet. I can recommend Mr. Dixon for photographing large complex events without reservation.

The easiest thing to say is that John is a gifted photographer, artist, and human being.  What strikes me most about him, however; is how he sees the world and how he captures images.  And that’s what sets him apart…he doesn’t just capture ‘the shot,’ he captures ‘the experience’.  When you work with John, you are working with an accomplished professional…while his feet are planted firmly on the ground, his creativity soars and pushes the envelope.  I’m always surprised how John is able to create the most amazing visuals under not so amazing situations.

We happened to pick a perfect day to take family portraits.  This family portrait is a Christmas present for our parents, we hope they will be thrilled when she sees the pictures in the snow, especially my mother who is very sentimental with family photos and thought she wouldn’t be getting any this year! John, along with his daughter Johchine, worked quickly and perfectly together.  We had 11 people to photograph in a short time, and 2 little ones whose patience are still not mastered.  John worked with everyone perfectly and made sure we had all the poses as we wanted before finishing up the set.  Some of the siblings were saying how easy going and great he is to work with, and he is that he is very professional and very knowledgeable! Thank you, John, Johchine and Life To Lens for memories to cherish!  What a fun time it was. Dawn, Danielle, A.J., Mary, Yolanda, Jeff, Joe, Taylor, Oskana, Emily, Jax

All my life, I have been surrounded by professional photographers and have developed certain expectations regarding quality of work.  More times than not, I have been a little disappointed by what I have received from professionals paid to cover weddings, sporting events, and formal gatherings. What a pleasant surprise it was to see what Life to Lens has to offer.  John Dixon’s eye and attention to detail has been impressive, without fail.  He has been capturing arts council celebrations for several years and has a way of “hiding in plain sight” while snapping hundreds of images.  He makes mundane conferences and meetings look lively and classy, and he flawlessly captures the elegance of formal occasions.  Always pleasant, enthusiastic, and supportive, John and his staff are a joy to work with.  They keep an eye on trends and technology and have treated our events as if they were their own.  If John is working the camera, you are sure to have the best memories – ever.

He took us out for a family shoot for our baby announcement photos. We choose a little park we both had knowledge of, and my wife thought would be the perfect background. John was able to guide us to the perfect spots for all of our shots. With myself, wife and 4 kids in tow, he guided us to each of our locations and made sure my kids were helped along the way as he helped them to some of the locations for shots on the water. Then he framed the shots perfectly and captured some amazing photos of my family. He was a pleasure to work with, very professional and friendly. Working with other photographers in a studio was a frustrated experience, especially with young children.  Life to Lens photography met us at the venue we selected and gave our session ample time to get all the shots we wanted while also not feeling pressured by time constraints.  The photographer was patient and knowledgeable.  Life to Lens offers a variety of packages at a very reasonable price.  The photos are individually edited to customer satisfaction.  In the past I have waited awhile for photos to be prepared.  At Life to Lens, the photos were ready promptly and made available to me electronically, convenient for printing and sharing.  Life to Lens has the personal touch to make photo sessions feel natural and the expertise to capture moments that you will treasure for many years to come!

John, an incredible and personal individual, has the ability to capture meaningful moments effortlessly. He arrived during set up to examine the area and determine the lighting of the hall, which surprised me at how early he arrived. I admire how professional John was in orchestrating group photos, capturing the smiles of children, and maneuvering through the room capturing all guests. The pictures, vibrant and lively, captured and enhanced the memories of my mother’s 50th birthday celebration. I truly have nothing, but the greatest appreciation for his services.
